DISTRICT PROFILE Tuloso-Midway High School is an "Exemplary" campus this year. A dynamic and innovative District, Tuloso-Midway has been "Recognized" by the Texas Education Agency for the fourth straight year (1997-01). In addition, the Tuloso-Midway Middle School, Intermediate and Primary Schools are "Recognized" campuses. On October 1, 1998, the Texas Education Excellence Project at Texas A&M University identified Tuloso-Midway as one of the "Top 25 Texas School Districts for Hispanic Students." Tuloso-Midway also leads Region 2 in K-12 schools on the end-of-course exam in Algebra 1. In the past, academic teams have won STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS in both Academic Decathlon (1992) and JETS (1993, 1996, 1997). Besides strong academic programs, Tuloso-Midway can also boast of very competitive athletic teams, having won three different state titles. Tuloso-Midway is dedicated to the development of its students to their fullest capabilities and offers a wide range of quality programs, extracurricular and fine arts and support services, to meet the intellectual, physical, emotional, and social needs of each individual student. A strong, stable and highly qualified staff enables the District to meet the needs of individual students by preparing them to be a productive, lifelong learner in a challenging and ever-changing world. YEAR-ROUND SCHOOL During the 1993-94 school year, Tuloso-Midway ISD initiated the "Year-Round School" concept for all of its campuses. This single-track calendar provides 180 instructional days as well as five intersession weeks between grading periods that offer opportunities for remediation and enrichment.
